    The Effect of Mind Mapping on Students' Recount Text Writing’s Skill in Eighth Grade of SMPN 1 Tanjung Bumi Bangkalan

    Abstract
    The purpose of this research was to find the effect and significant of mind mapping on students’ recount text writing skill in eighth grade of SMPN 1 Tanjung Bumi Bangkalan. The analysis technique of this research used quantitative method which conducted using a one group pre-test and post-test design. The population of this research was 240 students. The samples were 25 students selected by random cluster sampling. The data was collected by test. The research finding showed that the post-test is higher than students’ pre-test scores. From the result of statistic calculation could be seen from the normality result of writing pre-test and post-test were 0,071, 0,032 > 0,05. So, it could be concluded that the data was normal. The homogeneity result of writing pre-test and post test were 0,454 > 0,05. So it could be concluded that the data was homogeny. The linearity result of writing pre-test and post-test based on the significant deviation of the linearity were 0,307 > 0,05. So, the data was linear. The result of T-test based on the mean score of students’ writing score 74.32 (pre-test score) and 89,20 (post-test score). The result of the hypothesis obtained by using paired sample T-test showed a significant value of 0,00 < than 0,05 that means H0 was rejected and H1 was accepted. Therefore, it could be concluded that there was a significant effect of mind mapping on students’ recount text writing skill in SMPN 1 Tanjung Bumi Bangkalan.
